Meet the team
Mike Sambrook
Michael has worked within the construction industry in Shropshire for over 30 years and has been a part of the SJ Roberts Group for 17 of those years. He was involved in the creation of the SJ Roberts Homes division nearly 8 years ago and is involved on a day to day basis from the design and construction of each home right through to the crucial after sales service the company offers.
Michael is Shropshire born and bred living in Shrewsbury with his family and is passionate about the company and the high quality homes that they provide.
James Farmer
James has been a part of the S J Roberts Homes team for 7 years, starting his journey with us as a maintenance operative and eventually working his way up to After Sales Manager in 2019.
James’ role is invaluable in ensuring that our purchasers are looked after following their move and providing them with the comfort and reassurance that any issues they may encounter are dealt with swiftly and effectively. He is also heavily involved in the final quality checks that are carried out on each house before handover and keeps a close eye on his team to make sure that the S J Roberts quality is maintained.
James lives just outside Shrewsbury with his family and enjoys walking his dogs in the Shropshire countryside.
Steph Sambrook
Steph is responsible for creating the stunning and unique show homes that S J Roberts Homes are so proud of. Steph is passionate about using local and independent suppliers to furnish the homes. This is often commented on by perspective purchasers who can sense the personal touch that each show home has.
Steph was responsible for the first show home launched by the company back in 2016 and continues to provide ideas and inspiration for the company’s homes going forward.
Steph lives in Shrewsbury with her family and spends her spare time dressmaking and baking.
Victoria Evanson
Vicky is responsible for ensuring that every home handed over to our valued purchasers meets the highest standard of finish possible. Her involvement begins at the start of each development where the specification and design of each house type is agreed. Vicky will liaise with the build team throughout the process and also gives each customer their home tour just before legal completion.
Vicky has been a part of the SJ Roberts Group for 16 years and was responsible in assisting the setting up of S J Roberts Homes in 2015.
Vicky lives with her family just outside Shrewsbury and in her spare time enjoys making jewellery and baking fancy birthday cakes.
Debra Armitage
Debra is an integral part of the SJ Roberts Homes business. Her enthusiasm and passion for the homes the company provide is reflected in the relationship she builds with the purchasers. Deb’s knowledge of the specification and sales process is second to none and often leads to thank you cards and gifts from delighted customers.
Deb joined the company at the start of its journey and, living in Shrewsbury with her family, is well placed to give our purchasers an insight into what a wonderful place Shropshire is to live.

Launched in 2016, S J Roberts Homes is part of the S J Roberts Group, a group established by their Chairman over 30 years ago. With a wealth of experienced workforce and experience building new homes for clients like Severn Homes and Wyro Developments, S J Roberts Homes expanded into building new homes in the Shropshire area establishing itself as a quality, local housebuilder. With practical, well equipped and quality new homes at the core of its belief new homes designed to last with quality finishes and specifications were born.
LABC
S J Roberts Homes has an established working relationship with the LABC who provide their 10 year structural warranty. Regularly visiting the new homes developments the LABC keep a further quality control measure over all our new homes providing purchasers with the comfort that their home is being constructed to the highest quality.
SJ Roberts Group
Launched in 2016, SJ Roberts Homes is part of the SJ Roberts Group, a company founded over thirty years ago with an established reputation as a leading name in contract construction and timber frame engineering. Whilst the group has previously built hundreds of new homes across Shropshire and the adjoining counties these have been on behalf of clients, and Wyro Developments, our joint venture with the Wynnstay Group. SJ Roberts Homes is now our dedicated new home building division.
Environmental
S J Roberts Homes understands and is committed to the Environmental Protection Act and in particular the management of its company’s activities on the environment. They aim by regular recording, reviewing and auditing of all the company’s activities to reduce their impact on the environment. Being a new homes developer, they work closely with Landscape Architects to protect the green areas on their new developments and to encourage and in many circumstances enhance and provide new habitats for the flora and fauna to thrive. Visit their development at Allscott Meads to see the 800 bee friendly shrubs which will be planted across the development.
Consumer Code
In line with the Consumer Code for Home Builders, as supported by the LABC we provide a full after sales service for the first 2 years from the date of legal completion. At the point of Legal Completion you will be provided with the contact details of our After Sales Team.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I reserve my new home?
In order to reserve one of our homes you will need to be fully proceedable, this means being sold subject to contract on your existing property or having the funds available to purchase the property, this can be via a valid mortgage offer. You will be invited to a full reservation appointment with one of our sales negotiators who will run through the process with you and answer any questions that you may have. You will be required to put down a reservation fee of either £500 or £1000 at this appointment.
Are optional extras available?
Yes, although our homes come with an extremely high specification as standard, there is the opportunity to select optional extras to further enhance your home. All optional extras are payable at point of order and are non-refundable. Our sales negotiator will have a comprehensive list of all potential upgrades.
Do I require a solicitor?
Yes, a solicitor will support you by answering questions you may have about buying a property and will deal with the legal paperwork throughout the process. If you don’t already have a solicitor in mind, or have never purchased a home before, make sure to choose your solicitor carefully. Our well equipped sales team will be able to provide recommendations if you’re unsure of which solicitors to use.
When do I exchange contracts?
It can take approximately ten to fourteen weeks from reservation of your new home until the exchange of contracts. This does depend on the progress of the conveyancing process which will be carried out by your solicitor.
What is the After Sales Policy?
Our robust after sales policy ensures that you will continue to receive a high level of service even after moving into your new home. You will receive a six month and two year check and also have the comfort of the LABC structural warranty that comes with every one of our homes. Further details can be found in your home user guide.
